What if you could vibrate at a healthier frequency?

Sound Healing for better health and a calmer mind.

When I first started offering Sound Meditations back in 2014, I could not anticipate it growing into an industry in and of itself. To the extent that all health and wellbeing centres, from ordinary local gyms to high-end wellness Spas and Hotels are offering sound meditation. I see this rise of the sound healing industry as a direct result of our desperate need for non-invasive, effective stress relief and ways to quiet our highly distracted mind.

Nada Yoga, the Yoga of Sound is a wonderful part of Yoga practise and I will keep offering our Yin Yoga and Sound Meditations on a monthly basis.  And here is why:

Intention/Benefit/Scientific Evidence, or “what happens during a sound meditation”.

One of the intentions and benefits of Sound Meditation is to bring the practitioner from noise (outer and inner) to inner stillness, to a state of “union through sound”.

Sound baths guide the brain from active Beta states into calmer Alpha or Theta brainwave states associated with deep relaxation and daydreaming.

So instead of sitting still and meditating, which for most people is a struggle, we only must lie or sit down and let the sound do its magic.

The harmonic tones of singing bowls stimulate the vagus nerve, activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” mode), lower the heart rate and blood pressure as well as reduce stress hormones.  There is a lot of talk about nervous system regulation, and we practice a number of tools in yoga practice, the sound however, just happens, we don’t have to actively DO anything.

The impact on the physical body is also widely researched and recognised. Studies note that sound meditation significantly reduces tension in the physical body, reduces anger, fatigue, anxiety, and depression in participants.  Since the body is made of approximately 60-70% water, the sound vibrations simply move through us, having a physical and energetic impact.

The aspect I am very mindful of and grateful for, is that our shared, resonant environment creates a “collective healing” effect, fostering a sense of connection and reducing feelings of isolation.

And the fact that we can allow ourselves to transition peacefully from the week into the weekend, and from one month to the next, as our sound meditation is held monthly on the Friday closest to the New Moon, means that participants use it to set new intentions, or as a reset button and to practice letting go of what was, and making space in their hearts, minds and bodies for what the next month has in store.

If you too like to experience the benefits and increase your sense of calm & happiness, all you have to do is decide if you’d like to join us next Friday for the May event or join us in June.

I appreciate your interest and see you in the studio soon.
